Chinese delegation discusses food imports limits with Russian ruler

MOSCOW, Jan 9 (PRIME) -- Representatives of the General Administration of Customs of China are participating in negotiations in Moscow on restrictions of agricultural goods’ imports, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight said in a statement on Thursday.

“A delegation of the General Administration of Customs of China has arrived to Moscow today. The negotiations are held with the Federal Antimonopoly Service. Consultations will continue tomorrow. The sides are discussing the situation with the restrictions of imports of the products of aquaculture, pomaceous, stone and citrus fruits to Russia from China in detail,” the authority said.

The Russian authority restricted imports of some Chinese food products in summer 2019 due to troubles with the quality. Imports of pomaceous and stone fruits, including apples, plums and peaches, were suspended on August 10, 2019, and imports of citrus were restricted since Monday, and of aquaculture since Thursday.
